What Are Crow’s Feet and What Causes Them?

Crow’s feet is the term used to describe the fine lines and wrinkles found at the outer corners of your eyes. There are two variations of these wrinkles; dynamic and static. Dynamic wrinkles are said to be caused mainly by facial expressions. Every smile, frown, and eyebrow raise has contributed to creating tiny creases at the corner of the eyes. Static wrinkles are caused by natural occurrences, like gravity and aging. As we age, our skin begins to lose elastin, a protein found in our skin responsible for keeping our skin firm. When it begins to disappear, our skin becomes loose, making it easy to manipulate without returning to normal. So as the skin continues to crease and the elastin continues to disappear, it results in seemingly permanent lines. Crow’s feet can be a direct result of both static and dynamic wrinkles.
